Corrections/Submissions & the public log

Every entry in every ledger lists its sources so that any reader can check it. When a reader finds an error, the change is made and recorded here — what was submitted, what was changed, and when.

Submit a correction

Paste the headline of the entry, or leave blank if this is about a missing entry or the site as a whole.
What the entry currently says, what it should say, and why.
A link to the record or reporting that supports the correction. Corrections with a source are reviewed first.
Only used to ask a follow-up question if the correction is unclear. Leave it blank to submit anonymously — anonymous corrections are treated the same as any other.

How corrections are handled

Every correction is checked against the sources cited in the entry, and against the source you provide if you provide one. The standard is the same one the ledgers use: a claim is only as strong as the record behind it.

If the record supports the correction, the entry is changed and the change is logged below with the date. If a correction turns out not to be supported, that is logged too — a submission that was reviewed and declined is part of the record, not an embarrassment to hide.

What is recorded

The log below shows the ledger, the entry, the nature of the change, and the date. Submissions are summarized in the log, not published verbatim.

Submitter IP addresses are not recorded. If you leave the email field blank, nothing identifying you is stored.

Corrections are not attributed to a submitter by default. If you would like credit, say so in the correction itself and include the name or handle you want used.

What this form is not for

Disagreement about whether an entry should appear, or about the framing of the project, is not a correction — but it is still worth sending, and it will be read. Say so in the correction field.

Nothing here is a legal claim or a finding of wrongdoing. Entries labeled Documented refer to the existence of a record, not to a court judgment, unless the entry states otherwise.

The corrections log

One log for the whole site, grouped by ledger — every change made in response to a submission or a review, most recent first within each group, including entries that were reviewed and left unchanged. The cards below narrow the view to a single ledger; every count on this page is computed from the log itself.
